Sarawak Museum App Enhancing Museum Experience

Sarawak has managed to find ways to preserve its historical artefacts, sites, monuments and heritage via technology.

As of February 2021, Sarawak Museum Department has launched the Sarawak Museum App.

Visitors and users of the app can plan their visit around the museums by going through the list of musuems in the Sarawak Museum App

The app which aims to boost the tourism industry in Sarawak through its digital platform, is part of the department’s initiatives to promote all of the museums in Sarawak through digital platforms.

One of the main functions of the app includes featuring special collections that is made available in the museums in Sarawak.

The app contains the name of the special collection items as well as the information and where it is located.

The app contains information on items available all museums in Sarawak

Through the app, users will also have a more in-depth information of the collection by scanning the QR codes located near any artefacts in all the museums in Sarawak.

During the time of writing, the QR codes are not yet made available in any of the museums.

Apart from that, users of the app will be able to locate museums in Sarawak.

As the apps also display list of events and activities happening or will be held in Sarawak, the apps also made it easier for people especially visitors and tourists to plan their trip in Sarawak.

This is also to enhance users and visitors overall experience while visiting the museums as well as the places in its vicinity.

The Sarawak Museum App also contains list of events and exhibitions that will be held all around Sarawak

Another unique feature of the app is that users will also be able to participate in mission activities that is available at the museum sites.

As of now, Sarawak has various museum galleries throughout the State.

This includes Sri Aman Heritage Museum, Fort Alice; Ethnology Museum, Sarawak Islamic Heritage Museum, Chinese History Museum, Sarawak Textile Museum, Art Museum and Natural History Museum in Kuching; Niah Archaeology Museum in Miri; Limbang Regional Museum; and Baram Regional Museum.

The newly built Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuhcing is expected to open sometime this year.
